The Association of Grantmakers offers various learning opportunities throughout the year, the content guided by the needs and interests of its members. Some program offerings will be free to members, while others will offer a reduced rate for members.

Granting Staff Community of Practice

Open to members only, this cohort provides the opportunity for granting staff province-wide to become deeply connected in order to encourage collaboration, a healthy exchange of ideas, and peer-to-peer support. Using a mix of in-person and virtual meetings, the agenda will be shaped by the needs and aspirations of the participants. This program offering is free and for members only. All granting staff of members are welcome to join.

    Registration is now open for the Association of Grantmakers in Alberta (AGA) Conference: The Grantmaker’s Compass: Navigating the Headwinds Together.

     

    • November 30, 2026 | 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by a reception
    • December 1, 2026 | 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

     

    Together, we will explore topics like the future of philanthropy, Alberta’s political landscape, ‘failing forward’ and the role of grantmakers in a changing charitable sector. Breakout sessions delve into equity-informed grantmaking, impact investing, AI, community economic development, funder collaboration, investing in rural places and democratic institutions, the workforce environment and meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities. This conference offers a fantastic opportunity to connect, collaborate, and network with partners from across the province. The conference will feature engaging sessions relevant to leaders, fund and donor relations professionals, and grants teams.
