About Us

Association of Grantmakers in Alberta connects, gathers and informs grantmakers from across the province. The network brings together funders to increase the impact and effectiveness of grants, while providing them with insights, innovations, and techniques to help shape the future of the communities they serve.

Our History

During the pandemic, a group of CEOs of several granting organizations in Alberta met virtually for peer support and learning, initiated by the Muttart Foundation and Edmonton Community Foundation. Initially learning was focused on how we were all pivoting in the new remote and virtual world. Out of that informal conversation some collaborative granting happened, learnings were shared, knowledge deepened, and practices improved. Out of those experiences, the group decided to create a new entity that would be for all grant makers in Alberta, as a way to share the good thing that was discovered.
